Fundraising

Each Year NUI Galway Students' Union selects charities to fundraise for.

Our 2012/13 nominated charities were Age Action and Pieta House and we raised €19,000 for them in total.

Applications are now CLOSED for the NUI Galway Students' Union Charity Fund for the 2013/14 academic year. Charities wishing to check their details are on the mailing list for next year should email studentsunion@nuigalway.ie

Here are the other charities that the Students' Union has fundraised for over the years.

1999/2000 RAG week charities: The Lions Club, Leukaemia Trust, Gorta, VSA, Threshold, Goal

2001/2002 RAG week charities: Local- St. Joseph's Special School, Ábalta. National - CARI, MS Ireland, Meningitis Research, Diabetes. International - Gorta, VSA

2002/2003 RAG week charities: St. Josephs Special School, Ábalta, St. Vincent de Paul, MS Ireland, Meningitis Research, Diabetes Ireland, VSA.

2003/2004 RAG week charities: VSA, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Josephs Special School, Ábalta School, Threshold, Samaritans, Meningitis Research Foundation, Diabetes Federation of Ireland, Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, The Marie Keating Foundation.

2005/2006 RAG week charities: DEBRA Ireland, Enable Ireland, Galway Association, Galway Rape Crisis Centre, Galway Wheelchair Sports Club, Missionvale Care Centre, STOP, Special Olympics Ireland Games, Threshold.

2006/2007: Amount Raised: €12,000 Charities: Croí, Galway Hospice, Canteen, Habitat for Humanity

2007/2008 Amount Raised: €17,600 Charities: Ability West, Galway Simon Community, Share a Dream Foundation and Chernobyl Childrens Foundation International.

2008/2009 Amount Raised: €32,500 Charities: CD's Helping Hands, L'Arche, Galway Rape Crisis Centre, Belarussian Orphanage Project

2009/2010 Amount Raised: €20,000 Charities: COPE Galway, Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Peter McVerry Trust, Habitat for Humanity

2010/2011 Amount Raised: €22,000 Charities: Ability West, Alan Kerins Projects

2011/12 Amount Raised: €21,600 Charities: Galway Rape Crisis Centre, SpunOut.ie
