Lost Mobile Phones 28/02/13

Please take note of your phones serial number by pressing *#06# and save it someplace safe. Galway Gardaí currently have a lot of phones including Iphones that they want to reunite with their owners. By saving your phone serial number you can make sure that if your phone is found by the Gardaí you can prove you own it. You should also note the serial number of your bike and laptop someplace safe.

Increase in Campus Laptop Thefts 15/11/12

The Garda Community Officer has been in touch to say there has been an increase in thefts of laptops from Campus. Many of these thefts occurred due to doors being left wedged open by people avoiding the security systems in labs and the reading room. Please remember that NUIG is an open campus and by not following basic security procedures you are putting your property and the property of other people at risk. If you notice anybody acting suspiciously on campus please call security on 091 493333.

Increase in thefts

The Gardai have been in touch to say that there has been a marked increase in the number of thefts and break ins at student properties since the semester began. Many of these thefts could have been avoided if basic security measures were taken. Please avoid leaving windows/doors open and leaving valuable property on display. Be vigilant and take your valuable property home for the weekend or keep it out of view. Check your insurance cover for your house/apartment covers your property for damage and theft.

Invest in a good lock for your bike and make sure to note the serial number and take a photo of your bike.

Garda Nora Brady is the Garda Liaison Officer for Campus and she can be contacted on 091 538079.

House Parties

Remember that if your neighbours complain about antisocial behaviour resulting from a house party you hold or attend this can result in you receiving a behavioural warning from the Gardai, being brought before the University disciplinary committee or even being arrested. Please have consideration for your neighbours at all times.

Laptop Found

A distinctive laptop in an NUI Galway laptop bag was found in May near Merlin Woods but may have been taken from any part of the city. It remains unclaimed. Please contact Garda Nora Brady if this sounds like your laptop.
